Living in RO Colors

Yesterday I saw the movie Yes Man.  I really enjoyed it. Even if it was in the middle of the week, it felt like the weekend for a few hours. The mall was very crowded and so was the cinema, but this is the magic of Orange Film – happy hour at the movies on a Wednesday night.

I’ll start with the conclusion: Yes Man is worth your time and attention. It is a comedy that goes beyond smiling - it made me laugh, especially the chicken factory part.  And it is definitely better & funnier than Meet Dave. »

I’ve heard a rumor that said that there will be a new Sex and the City made this year and released in 2010. Not Clothes and the City, but sex. Because in 2009 is all about relationships and less about shopping. We don’t have much money left to spend on fashion anyway.

Yesterday, thanks to Orange Film and my friends, I saw the movie Australia. My friends picked the movie and bought the tickets, so I just said: “OK, I’ll be there.” A haven’t read any reviews about the movie but I’ve heard on the radio that it is a big ad for touristic Australia and too long for a love story. Even so, I enjoyed it.

The movie is long indeed - 165 Minutes – but I didn’t get bored. If you read some reviews and are still searching for some reasons to see this movie, here are 3 of them: you’ll see beauty (beautiful people and places), you’ll be reminded that war sucks big time and you’ll get in the mood for a vacation in the sun (here, in Romania, the winter is at its peek, brrrrrrr.)

Everyone talked about Ms. Nicole Kidman’s and Mr. Hugh Jackman’s performances, but no one said anything about the character King George. »

Sambata seara, la Brasov, inimile catorva mii de oameni s-au umplut de incatare. Oameni simpli, care stiu sa se bucure de lucruri simple. Cum ar fi muzica. In acea seara, totul a venit de la formatia Simply Red. A fost un concert superb, ridicandu-se la asteptarile mele. Sunt un mare fan Simply Red, si le multumesc organizatorilor Cerbului de Aur pentru inspiratia de a-l invita pe Mick Hucknall & co.

Inafara de organizarea salii, totul a fost foarte bine. Sonorizarea nu a pus probleme (cel putin nu le-am perceput eu), spatiul a fost destul de mic pentru a fi oricum aproape de scena, iar jocurile de lumini din fundal au completat perfect fiecare melodie. »

Imi place Grecia! Fiecare vacanta petrecuta acolo mi-a lasat amintiri foarte frumoase si dorinta de a ma reintoarce in alta vara.

Imi place si ABBA. Le stiu cantecele, versurile, videoclipurile. Cant de fiecare data cand posturile de radio le difuzeaza cantecele, iar daca decorul indica “acasa” … dansez .

Filmul “Mamma Mia!” mi-a adus aminte de toate astea. De aceea il recomand tuturor celor care au chef de o comedie usoara, cu muzica ce o pot fredona chiar ei. Cred ca e singurul film muzical la care poti sa canti odata cu actorii. Iar daca Pierce Brosnan poate canta (si o face in mai multe randuri), atunci si tu poti canta. Tinand cont ca in sala e intuneric … Se pare ca ABBA au un cantec pentru fiecare ocazie, ai de unde alege . »

Ca orice om care vrea sa petreaca miercuri seara in oras, am ales sa merg la film cu Orange, 2 saptamani la rand. Alegerile s-au dovedit a fi neinspirate: Hancock cu Will Smith & Charlies Theron, urmat de Meet Dave cu Eddie Murphy & Elizabeth Banks.
Ambele filme m-au dezamagit. As fi vrut sa citesc niste recenzii inainte, insa am decis sa nu mai merg la filme cu impresiile altora in minte.

Desi diferite, cele doua filme au cateva lucruri in comun:

1. Ambii actori ai personajelor principale sunt in top 3 cei mai bine platiti actori ai anului trecut – Will Smith pe locul I si Eddie Murphy pe locul III
2. Scenariile nu se potrivesc calibrului actorilor, sunt fara inspiratie si fortate
   • Hancock: lui Will Smith nu i se potriveste rolul de betiv, suparat pe viata si fara multe de spus. Vezi “In Pursuit of happyness”, unde joaca excelent.
   • Meet Dave: Eddie Murphy nu poate juca rolul unei masini / unui comandant care nu-si exprima sentimentele, deoarece el este un actor al senzorialului si al expresivitatii.

Yesterday evening I saw the last Oscar movie: “No Country for Old Men”. Motto: “There are no clean getaways”. It was mind blowing and all that violence and blood made me seek. I didn’t understand a thing before the end and most part of the people form the theater thought it was horrible.

NCFOL is definitely not an easy movie. I started understanding it as I re-played it again and again in my head and talked about it with my husband and friends.

As all things in life, this movie has its haters and lovers. The haters are hating is for shallow reasons (bad haircut, too much violence, the good guy died off screen, only 2 soundtracks etc) and the lovers are loving it for the meaning those shallow reasons are giving to the hole story and point of the movie. »

A new book about healthy eating hit the stores: “Traiesc, deci ma abtin” (I live, therefore I abstain) by Doctor Mihaela Bilic.
The book is interesting enough to not skip any page and gives you good reasons not to give up any diet you have started so far. I do recommend it to those who still have questions about healthy habits for eating.
